Cycling Ireland BIKE FEST 2014

St. Anne’s Park, Dublin 5

Saturday, June 14, 11:00am – 4:00pm

The sound of bicycle bells and laughter will fill up St. Anne’s Park, Raheny, on Saturday 14th June from 11am – 4pm, when Cycling Ireland’s Bike Fest will see the Dublin City Council Park transform into a cycling haven for all the family. Cycling Ireland’s free annual family cycling festival once again marks the launch of National Bike Week, offering an opportunity for all ages to enjoy their bike, from the 18 month old avid balance bike enthusiasts, to the older children amongst us, with cycling activities for everyone.

This is the second year that the family cycling festival will take place in St. Anne’s Park, with the aim of providing a fun learning experience on the bike to children of all ages. The festival offers a good balance between the learning of new skills in our coached skills zones featuring Sprocket Rocket, Gearing up off Road, Strider Bikes and a mini cycle track, and a relaxed atmosphere in the picnic area with MC Ray Shah, live music and a range of food stalls.

Ambassador for Bike Fest, comedian PJ Gallagher, said “I’m really delighted to be an ambassador for Bike Fest, there’s going to be something there for everyone. Who doesn’t love cycling their bike? This will be a great mix of cycling in all the zones, and enjoying everything that’s good about an outdoor festival. St. Anne’s will definitely be the place to be on June 14th!”

Live cycling entertainment will be provided courtesy of Dirt Monkeys, the BMX stunt crew, who will be performing stunts, and coaching BMX skills. BMX coaches will also be present, to introduce kids to the sport of BMX in Chuckies BMX track, located within St. Anne’s Park. RSA are providing a road simulator, for everyone to test their road awareness skills, and Doctor Mechanic will be on hand to answer any bike mechanic questions.

Entrance is free to Bike Fest, the Cycling Ireland Family Cycling Festival, on Saturday June 14th from 11am – 4pm. Guaranteed fun for all the family, all that is required is a bike, a helmet, and a sense of adventure.
