Kelvin Coaching in Ratoath

Kelvin Batey was in the country this week to run a couple of coaching sessions out at the Ratoath track.

One year has passed since Kelvin was last at the track although that first race on the 27th November 2011 feels like a lot longer ago than that now!

The coaching sessions started off with the basics of riding a bike, riding positions, how to get a full rotation out of your pedalling and moved onto gate technique, basic manualing and tap manualing skills as well as lots of ongoing training tips.

The feedback from the participants has been fantastic, all feeling that they have benefitted from Kelvin’s knowledge. It’s obvious the kids enthusiasm has been reinvigorated as well as their parents.

Kelvin also noted that the riding level has hugely improved since his first visit a year ago. A few of the riders particularly impressing him. Bright things ahead!

After the sessions Kelvin rushed off the Cycling Ireland Pedal Fever conference to spread the word on BMX and the Ratoath Club.

2013 will see Kelvin back for more coaching sessions … stay tuned.
